Hi, my name is Asya!
In 2022, my son and I moved to the United States and settled in Mountain View, in the Bay Area.
He started attending a local English-speaking kindergarten, and soon I noticed that he was forgetting Russian words and increasingly using English. He didn’t even know the letters of his native language and couldn’t read even short words.
That’s when I decided to teach him to read and write in Russian.

I graduated from Moscow State Linguistic University with a master degree in educational psychology. Since 2010, I have been teaching foreign languages to children and adults. After moving to the U.S., I worked as a teaching assistant at a Montessori school in Palo Alto.
I know that the most powerful learning tools for children are play and group dynamics. That’s why I started a Russian-language reading and writing program in Mountain View, which I named “Izba-Chitalnya” (Изба́-чита́льня).
Historically, this term referred to a center for cultural and educational activities in villages of the Russian Empire and the USSR.
If you share my views and want your children to read and write in Russian, join our program!

Home after-school program
Every weekday, we offer after-school programs for a small group of children aged 4–6. Mini-lessons are held through play and interaction, and we also spend a lot of time outdoors. Our goal is for the children to speak Russian not only about everyday matters but also about the world around them, exploring history, art, science, and nature.
